Effect of Using Urea Formaldehyde Modified with Extracts in Plywood on Formaldehyde Emission

نویسندگان

چکیده

Formaldehyde-based adhesives are used in the forestry industry. This is because formaldehyde inexpensive, easy to use and resistant moisture; it also has particular mechanical effects. Formaldehyde both advantages disadvantages. It known that various diseases such as lung cancer occur humans a result of release into air during after board production. In this study, urea glue mixture was prepared by using four different fillers (extract maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) elm (Ulmus glabra) bark, extract hazelnut (Corylus avellana) husk acorn tannins) at two ratios. The bonding shear strength sylvestris) spruce (Picea orientalis) plywood produced with adhesive tested according EN 314-1 standard. All plywood, except tannin, met requirements A emission test carried out accordance 713-3 With approach, possible quickly determine emissions. Experimental results were obtained for subsequent measurements, including chamber tests. observed bark reduced 40 %, while other 3-37 %.

Development of melamine modified urea formaldehyde resins based on strong acidic pH catalyzed urea formaldehyde polymer

To upgrade the performance of urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin bonded particleboards, melamine modified urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins based on strong acidic pH catalyzed UF polymers were investigated. The study was conducted in a series of two experiments: 1) formulation of MUF resins based on a UF polymer catalyzed with strong acidic pH and 2) determination of the effects of increased melamine co...

Melamine-Bridged Alkyl Resorcinol Modified Urea– Formaldehyde Resin for Bonding Hardwood Plywood

A powdery product was obtained by the reaction of methylolated melamine with alkyl resorcinols to form melamine-bridged alkyl resorcinols (MARs). The effects of the addition of this powder on the bonding strength and formaldehyde emission of urea–formaldehyde (UF) resins were investigated. Three types of UF resins with a formaldehyde/urea molar ratio of 1.3 synthesized by condensation at pH 1.0...

Effect of Thermal Treatment of Veneer on Formaldehyde Emission of Poplar Plywood

A large amount of poplar plywood is now being imported into Japan from China, and as a result, formaldehyde emitted from this plywood represents an undesirable chemical that must be controlled using a chemical catching agent. The aim of this study is to find an approach to reduce the formaldehyde emission of poplar plywood using thermal treatment without employing any chemicals. The experimenta...
